Tears of Joy as Governor Yusuf Welcomes Separated Kano Conjoined Twins

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, today received the Kano conjoined twins, Hassana Hassan Isa and Hussaina Hassan Isa, at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport following their successful separation in Saudi Arabia.
The twin sisters, who were joined at birth, were airlifted to Saudi Arabia in October 2023 for a delicate surgical operation fully sponsored by the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
After 23 months of intensive medical procedures, rehabilitation, and special care, Saudi doctors successfully separated the children.
Governor Yusuf, who personally escorted the twins and their family to the airport two years ago, was present again to welcome them back home in an emotional ceremony attended by officials of the Saudi Consulate General in Kano, family members, and well-wishers.
Governor Yusuf expressed deep gratitude to the Saudi authorities for their humanitarian gesture, describing the successful surgery as “a divine testimony and a new beginning for Hassana and Hussaina.”
The Governor further pledged to sponsor the education of the twins from kindergarten to tertiary level, while also promising to empower their family with sustainable means of livelihood to ensure the children’s proper upbringing.
“This is a moment of tears of joy for Kano State, Nigeria, and humanity at large. We remain indebted to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for this life-saving intervention,” the Governor said.
The emotional return of Hassana and Hussaina marks the completion of a remarkable journey of hope, resilience, and international cooperation that began nearly two years ago.
